Ekwase Msoni

Director - Strategy, Impact and Learning

Ekwase Msoni is the Director of Strategy, Impact & Learning (SaIL) at World Vision Zambia, a role she assumed in July 2022 after rejoining the organization. In this senior leadership position, she provides strategic oversight for national programs, ensuring evidence-based decision-making, impact measurement, and organizational learning that drive improved child well-being outcomes. She leads a team of 27 technical professionals and champions initiatives in strategy development, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), knowledge management, data analytics, and governance systems.

With over 18 years of experience in international development and humanitarian leadership, Ekwase has held executive roles across Africa, including nearly a decade in East Africa (Somalia and South Sudan). Her career spans senior positions with UN OCHA, Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and World Vision. Notable roles include:

  • Humanitarian Affairs Officer & Team Leader – UN OCHA, South Sudan
    Led monitoring and reporting for the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund, managed over $50M in projects, and developed frameworks for accountability and compliance.
  • Country M&E Coordinator – Norwegian Refugee Council, South Sudan
    Established country-level M&E systems, supported resource mobilization strategies, and strengthened program quality assurance.
  • Governance & MEAL Specialist – Danish Refugee Council, Somalia
    Designed and implemented MEAL frameworks for governance and civic participation programs, ensuring accountability and learning in fragile contexts.
  • National Program Quality Assurance Manager – World Vision South Sudan
    Oversaw program quality for a $50M portfolio, introduced innovative monitoring tools, and supported evidence-based strategy development.
  • Regional DME Associate – World Vision Zambia
    Spearheaded the rollout of a nationwide M&E system and GIS mapping for 12 Area Development Programs, enhancing data accessibility and program effectiveness.

Ekwase holds a Master’s degree in International Development Administration from Andrews University (USA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Development Studies from the University of Zambia. She has completed specialized training in Humanitarian Leadership, Core Humanitarian Standards, Monitoring in Hostile Environments, and Program Management for Development Professionals, Senior Leadership Professional Development Training( SLDP)
